Hi all i am going to have my shell shot blasted and then primered to prevent it from rusting.

Should i have it sprayed in etching primer or a red oxide based paint bearing in mind that i will need to do filler work on top of the primer after the shell has been shot blasted.

Many Thanks

Phil :P

so a good etching primer after shot blasting should do the trick hey?Guess it just a loat of hard work with the filler next then? and cutting and grinding relative areas but ensuring that the welded aras are then primered agina when necessary?

thats about it - on occasions you may need to rub through the primer to get stuff to stick / weld directly to the metal, just blow over fresh primer as you finish areas and it'll stay in good nick untill your ready for full-on paint.

we use a special thin acid oating after we gwt the cars blasted it is clear and really tough but stops the metal rusting while they are being orked on i will try to find out what its called. (Its not etch primer and is very different)
