I was given this tamiya mini cooper from my cousion as he was having a clearout.
He started this model around 2 years ago and gave up.
The shell has been brush painted and is a pretty poor finish so that mean's i will have to strip off the paint.

Ive decided i want a de-bumpered and de-seamed look so ive started to de-seam the shell befor i strip the paint off.

I have completly smoothed off the bonnet put the chassis and other bits in soak (kitchen cleaner) and ive also started to de-seam the roof.

Haha awesome!

I'm doing something similar to a VW Beetle model for my girlfriend.

I'm trying to work out the best way of lowering it...

I did one like that and it came out very well, although somebody had to paint it for me.

Shouldn't that be in the projects section? :shifty: I won a competition a couple of years back in miniworld to design your own remote control mini, and I got a Tamiya mini with the shell done to my design! I think they're meant to be painted on the inside though? Or at least they are if the shells are clear plastic.

Ive just got mine from Ebay - arrived in the post this morning. Im not going to do anything to mine though - it is a replica of the Morris Cooper 1275S that won the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally - complete with roof rack for two spare wheels. I'll be starting that prob tomorrow night.

The decals in the pack were badly worn so I phoned 'The Hobby Company' and they are going to send me a replacement for free - it was an old one they had lying around. I was really pleased with that.

Good luck with your model, and post pics as you go.

I've recently got back into making these, mainly as a way of unwinding and relaxing (it's quite theraputic!). I've mostly been concentrating on F1 cars but that Mini looks great!

My latest is a McLaren MP4/4......

I’ve been working on this one...
[attachment=51142:HPIM8997.jpg][attachment=51143:HPIM9004.jpg]

along with another, a Mk1 Cooper, tamiya mini kits since Christmas, haven’t got any picks of the Cooper yet as I’ve only just started on it.

I’ve also got this tamiya R/C kit that I painted up in the same colours as my real mini.
