Place the head upside down on a flat surface with something under one of the valve stems and push.

I feel very stupid now.
I will go give it a go
Thanks

Don't morspeed stamp their heads with a number when they've done some work? If so give em a ring and they should be able to tell you what it had done.

Well the valves are bigger and have been de-shrouded, and the inlets have had the guide boss removed and some work has been done on the exhaust ports.

This is about as much that can be done to a 998 head, so ST4 seems a reasonable description.

Problem is that these heads are not good to start with and have little room for a lot of work, hence the guide boss is still there in the exhaust port, you can't do anything to it. and the valves are deshrouded as much as possible. I would suggest that it is as described, but you would see more improvements with a standard 295 casting.

Interesting it has no MSPD marking though, it should if it is a Morspeed.

Where would I expect to find the mark?
Under the rocker cover I have 3 casting numbers from left to right
BIL CAM4810 5

then by thermostat housing I have
1207

All of these marks are cast into the head

Excellent
Well with such a quick responce from you all I am very settled.
My mind is a rest with all the little nagging questions I had. All that is left to do now is fit the thing.
A big thank you to all who posted help
