Fine Grain On Paint

On my roof I have fine black spots of what i think is paint. It could be stone chip but I'm unsure what it is. When polishing the roof, its feels rough and scratchy, not smooth like it should be. The specs of paint can be picked off with yout fingernail, but it scratches the paint. Whats the best bet for getting it off!?

Sounds more like tar spots to me
Possibly so. I've had a go with the G3 paste to no avail. I don't want to scratch my roof or have to re-paint it if I can help it!

If it's something like tar spots try some spirit wipe/ panel wipe.
I think its definately paint. Like a fine mist of paint has covered the top of the car. Just tried panel wipe with no such luck, it just stripped my polish off and thats it. It feels horrible to run your hand over.

Sounds like overspray to me, did you try G3 by hand? It works alot better on an electric buffer for stubborn stuff.
Yes it was done by hand, cloth and water spray! Will buy my dad an electric buffer for his 50th and then use it!

I wouldn't bother with water if you're doing it by hand, it dilutes it. I don't even use water with a buffer, tends to throw itself everywhere and it's a bugger to get off. Just be careful not to work in one area too long or you can burn through.
Right okay, will give it a go without water, thanks for your advice
