i dont have one but a good location might be the rear pocket?
What you have got to think of is if you have a fire the time it takes for you to get to your fire extinguisher could be cruishall as to weather you get to the fire before it spreads too much.
Mine is on my crossmember, i can reach it and pull the pin out whilst slowing down so i'll be ready to jump out the car & use it.
If it's in your rear pocket, you'll be stopping the car opening the door, tipping the seat forwards, probably removing stuff thats been put on top of it in the pocket etc a good 15 secs has gone by and your car could be engulfed in flames...

You've forgotten that you will more than likely need to open your bonnet too, not something I'd be overly happy doing if the car was on fire. If you're really worried about things catching fire, you should probably consider plumbing in an extinguisher system to the engine bay as well as your hand held one.

Monstrous - that fitting looks like friction-only - hope it doesn't tear loose in a crash, mate. Definitely seems like the cross-member is the way to go for reach reasons, and so long as it doesn't inconvenience the passenger, that looks like the best location.
Bracket screwed with self tappers to the crossmember, and extinguisher clamped in bracket...

This was as easy as anything to mount. I just happened to run my hand along and there happened to be a few holes in the rail under the dash...two of which happened to be the perfect distance apart.
It will look even better when the dash gets replaced.
Plus, Ive already tried it for ease of grabbing. All I do is reach across and pull on the black bit (you cant see it in the pic but there is a little extra on the securing tab) and I have it in my hand.
