So my MPi is going in for it's MOT tomorrow. The advisories last year were a clonking through the steering rack on full lock and leaking oil, which only required a new rocker cover gasket. The only other one was uneven tyre wear, it appears that the previous owner had a lot of problems with tyres over the years. Not a problem now as I've replaced the wheels and tyres for a completly new set with plenty of tread and no uneven wear.

Is a passenger seat required for the MOT? I shouldn't think so as it doesn't affect saftey or any laws but I just thought I'd ask. The seat belt is still in place but the seat is no longer there.

My last mot failed on lots of things, one including the passenger seat was not secure. I never even noticed lol

Probably best I put it back in then, better to be safe than sorry I suppose. I'll go do it now.

I'd put it back just to be on the safe side, but I'm sure if it's not there it won't matter, but if it is there it will have to be secure.

Does anyone know how big of an oil leak it takes to fail? I think I have one comming from my selector rod, but if it turns out not to be that, im just gonna put up with it.

passenger seat is not required, if its not fitted it can't fail, if its fitted and insecure then it will fail

Just fitted the passenger seat and what a suprise, one of the indicator blubs has gone. Luckly I still had the original orange one kicking around.

it would fail if there were a seat and no seatbelt however not the other way around, last MOT i dont think my passenger seat was in and they didnt mind >_<

a relatively new mini, shouldnt be any major issues

All this talk of MOTs makes me nervous about mine in May (the first since I've had the car).
Hope it all goes ok for you today!
