its 1994 its one with 2 millon fuses rather than the usual 4 also its on irish plates (that not a joke) dont no if that makes a differance i would think it was still built in the u.kYes that is very strange indeed. Maybe there is a very late modification to the SPi that Rover never told anyone about, it wouldn't be the first. What year is the car?

Maybe they changed it when they changed the wiring loom. From your description it all sounds original, leave it as is if it's working. I'll have to remember that one and see if it comes up again in the future. Cheers!

i get most of my unusual sized sockets from ebay, but not the cheapo makes tho, get a good quality one

Dan my K reg mayfair had a 30mm nut on it as well, but a standard non airbag boss.

Sounds like Rover's pulled a fast one again... on seeing this I went off and checked the rover parts catalog.... and there are only two 'nuts' for the steering column in there.. the traditional 1.5/16" (part numbers as Dan has written) and the one for the MPi steering column (p/n DBP3067), anything else is not in the parts catalog either....
