Ok I am preping my bmh shell for paint after sealing all of it. I have some scratches underneathe it from delivery where the zinc coating is broken. I was just going to feather the edges of these scratches and put some acid 8 primer on these before putting stone chip on the underneath. Will this be ok or is there some better way of preping it. Also do I need to prime under the stonechip. Advice from another painter says know. What do ye guys think?

Thnaks

Yeah what you have said sounds right. No need to prime under stonechip, just lightly etch prime and then put the stonechip on top, making sure the etch is fully dry or it can react with the stonechip. You can primer on top of it if you like, no point really unless you want a slightly smoother finish.
