Yo guys, just wondering, if I stripped my car myself, how much do you reckon it would cost for a body shop to fit a new rear subframe (mine is rotted through) and respray the whole car?

Don't fancy myself as a sprayer lol, and once I'm happy with my Rover my attention (and more importantly, my wallet) will be going on my mini instead O_O.

cheers
Ben

Dont know the anser to the cost but you should have a go at the subframe yourself to save your self a few quid! the only really hard bit is the undoing of the old bolts! O_O

is it just bolts to get the rear subframe off?

aahhh thats not too bad then might have a crack at it. Summer project nar mean?

I might give the spraying a try myself aswell.

I dunno weather to spend a grand or so to get the bits needed to slip my 1.8 vvc lump in or spend a grand or so getting a real nice a series :s

decisions decisions....

Ideally I would like at LEAST 100bhp, preferably closer to 120bhp.

I'm going stripped out aswell for now as I can't afford a decent interior haha

cheers
Ben

How hard is it to get the a series up to those kinds of power levels?

1275 with cams, big carb and what else? apart from the usual breathing mods. If I do go a series then I'd quite like to strip down the engine and rebuild it myself, just to learn a few things if not anything else!

Would like to keep single carbs if poss.

cheers
Ben

its not too hard to get power... but u lose reliability... i got 1293, 286 kent cam, stage 3 head, lightened and balanced 1.5 roller tips with a weber 40 and pushin 88bhp @ wheels but getting through a set of plugs every 3-4 weeks

Fittin subframe is easy, just soke the bolts a week before hand with wd40
