the switch with the picture of a pedal on it is staying on what does this mean? being new to minis i dont even know the name of this switch can any help?

Hi, Thats to tell you to check the brake fluid level. check the brake fluid level, if thats ok it might be a broken wire on the reservoir lid touching the body somewhere.
