Hello all!

I was just thinking about my phone contract and Im a but puzzled so I thought I might ask on here, see if anyone works for a phone company...

About 2 years ago, maybe more someone from 02 rang my mum and asked if she wanted a new contract. As she already had a good contract she suggested that I might want it. The deal was, I got a new simcard sent to me, I pay £25 a month and get 1000 free texts or 500 texts and 500 multimedia messages, plus 600 anytime minutes. At the time it was the best deal Id heard of, and as I say, Ive had it for ages. I get people ringing me saying they can beat it, then I tell them what I pay and what I get and they realise they cant

Thing is, its only the sim card, but at the time I had a phone anyway so it didnt matter... but last September, my phone broke. Luckily it was still (just) under the warranty so because they couldn't fix it, they replaced it. Now however, my replacement phone, as broken (in the last few days).

What I want to know is, if I went into an o2 shop and said that I havent upgraded my phone in 2 years then do you reckon they will adjust my contract as it was so long ago. I want to keep my number ideally, and a new phone would be cushty!! If I have to change my number, I will, as Ive actually had a few problems receiving some peoples texts and sometimes calls :P

Those of you who are on contract, what network and what is yours like? How did you get it? How long have you had it

Sorry for all the questions!!

Ta for your help!

Raz xx

You can buy try but you get that special bundle of freebies because it's sim only. They can put you onto a handset tariff but you will not get anywhere near that good bundle for that price!

I pay £35 a month and got a free Samsung D900i (worth around £200 when I took out the contract).
Also for that I get:
1000 text
400 anyone anytime minutes. But the minutes now don't include 0845 numbers

And I pay an extra £5 a month insurance on the handset which I strongly recommend to anyone.

That was a 18 month contract and it is up this month, so I will be keeping my eyes open (and on this thread) for any good deals...

buy a new phone sugar, use old sim, makes better sense you might not get that contract again and be tied to a new one for 18 months!

I'm on orange because of the free broadband, if your contract is over £30 per month, i'm on a dolphin35 plan, see the website for details. My local orange shop is actually quite helpful which i find rare in phone shops!

They also gave me £150 off my bill for returning an old handset! Bonus!

Although when i was with vodafone i found it cheaper overall and the helpline better!

I'll ask Ben babes, he was a manager at Phones4U up until about 2 weeks ago. They used to throw phones and money at people - myself and all my mates got £100-150 cashback with our phone deals!

Hmm I Just looked at my o2 bill :P :ermm: this month between Feb 16th and today I've sent an astounding 1,950 texts. :P and I only get 1000 free so that's an extra £95 I gotta get from somewhere... ffs.

Well I just rang them and he said seeing as though I'm on a £35 contract he can put me on unlimited free texts to ANYONE for no extra charge. Which is great but kinda doesn't help my bill this month does it :P

Bloomin heck Chris, you must never sleep and just keep texting

buy a new phone sugar, use old sim, makes better sense you might not get that contract again and be tied to a new one for 18 months!

Thats what I thought, was just checking because its a long time since then so I thought it might be getting cheaper, maybe not then :P

Thankooo :ermm:
Can you also ask him why I sometimes dont get your texts please :errr: and its only your texts :(

Hmm, will have to wait til Ive got more money. Im using my sisters old phone which ironically is the same as mine thats broken, but that one is being really temperamental at the moment, plus Ive got a Virgin sim card in there at the moment with about £5 on it, so that if Im not receiving texts/calls on my o2 sim (as I mentioned earlier) I can get them if they are important.

Er I may be stating the obvious here... Why don't you ask O2?

If you read at the beginning I said that Id ask on here to see if anyone works for a phone company, also I want people advice and experience. I will ask O2 when I get chance, but Im away at the weekend, and wont get time to go into the shop, and I work in the week!

I pay £24.50 a month with O2 and get 1000free texts and 600free minutes.

Yea, but dont you have to buy a new phone when that one breaks or do you get an upgrade each month?

Is that like a bolton o2 thing? Im sure my little sister used to have something like this!! Now she has a contract that her boyfriend pays for!! Jammy dodger!!!

Im bloomin quick at texting too!

I taught my mum and my grandad how to text :) bless my grandad he is really good at it :)

I dont really like the phone shops in Horsham, the guys in there are really intimidating!! In fact I saw one of them in the pub the other night, went up to him while I was drunk and asked why I couldnt receive texts! :P  He damn moody and he is meant to be a manager!! My brothers mate works for Phones4U and thankfully still recognises me from about 5 years ago so hopefully he can help me out!! :P
