Hi, I just had to share this with someone.

After some hard graft, my Black Mini Designer is now fully road leagl again.

I bought 'Johnny' In February following the mother-of-all MOT failures and have been working on him ever since.

My welding skills are pretty good now following inner and outer sills, floorpan sections, boot floor and rear subframe mounts, rear valance and end closing panels, not to mention numerous patches here and there.

Rear subframe has been off, patched, wire brushed, painted and on again.

Ball joints replaced.

Brakes overhauled, the rear drums actually adjust again!

CV boots and steering rack boots replaced.

And not to mention the 7 x 13 deep dish alloys and sportspack arches!!! Just a little trim out of the front wings! - about 3 inches anyway!

Following that, a good t-cut all round and polish up and he looked fine.

Trundle down to the MOT station and he passed first time! What an achievement.

Just got the Insurance cover note through this morning (£95 TPF&T - old git!) and while sleeping my nightshift off, my wife kindly walked to the local Post Office and taxed him. - Thanks dear. x

When the kids came home from school, we loaded them (x3) and the dog in the car and headed off to the sea-side for Fish and Chips.

What a day! He ran fine (needs more power - watch this space) No coughs or splutters and sounded great.

The day was only marred by having to come to work again tonight. Never mind, we are going away camping in him this weekend.

This is only the 1st stage of the project. Engine and breathing comes next.

Just thought you would like to know that these 'projects' do sometimes eventually make it back onto the road!

See you around,

Scott.
