I have been working underneath my mini cooper this weekend and have noticed I have a reflective steel panel going all the way down the underside of the car above where the exhaust system goes. It follows the exhaust system down until the rear subframe. My question is where do I get a replacement panel as there is a rust hole in it and I want to replace it? And what is the panel called?

It is a heat shield....keeps the exhaust heat from heating up the interior. It is not a structural piece so I would not worry about rust holes in it.

It's really expensive stuff, even if you just buy a plain sheet and not a manufactured part. You could try Mini Spares for it but you might find you have to make your own from sheet.

Its aluminised bitumenised fiber board, lol.

Looks to me like the mid section silencer has been knocking it, the lump behind is the captive nut for the seat belts.

I wouldnt wory about it, seriously that hole is not worth the bother. I removed mine as I no longer have the cat. If you have the cat, leave it on as under certain conditions, the exhasut from the cat back gets extremely hot, and in severe bad running conditions the radient heat from the exhaust can actualy start a fire!!, its there for a reason and that is to protect the car interior from extreme heat.
