hi all i went in to my local body shop on saterday morning and i got a quote for a respray.£800 thats with primer and top coat.
he said because the panels are new and havent been painted before that he will need to paint it with a special primer.
is this true?.
i forgot what he said it was called but was something like acid or acidtec primer.
anyone heard of this before?.
he said that it will stop any rust coming through in the future.

Did he say dioxidizer? or etch primer?
Etch primer i am pretty sure is needed but just so that the paint will stick better to the bare metal. Dioxidizer is like a rust converter.
But i think both are needed from what other people have told me that are panel beaters.

There isn't any! etch primer is an acid, so it's just another name for etch primer.
