Did you report it to the police? Did you get the other cars registration?
I would consider chasing these up and get there insurance to sort it out, why risk losing your no claims bonus for some other idiot

looks like the insurance company will declare it a write off because of the cost of repairs.
insurance companys dont reshell in most circumstances if the car is over 2 years old again because of the costs.
its not a god given right that you can buy it back from the insurance company, it depends on the company if they do that, some do some dont.
