I was just remenising about different events i have attended and remembered when my front bumper dropped of whilst in convoy. There were about six of us, driving along a duel carriageway, i was at the front with a mate in the passenger seat when we heard an awfull noise. I was convinced that my wheel was about fall off! My mate got on the CB radia were were using to talk tot he rest of the convoy and told them something was wrong. The third car back, pulled away and got level with me, and all we heard was, "Your front bumper is falling off", with that the noise stopped, and over the radio all four cars following had managed to run it over, closley followed by a large white HGV. We pulled over to check it out, the bolts had just undone themselves, and i managed to buy a new bumper at the show and fix it on there and then.

Has anyone else got any stories like this.

CB radios are great fun, i always worried that a trucker would tune in on the channel and just happen to be overtaking at the exact same time, can you imagine it, "You got mighty pretty face there boy", as you look up at the shadowy figure in the juggernaut! lol

had a magnetic Racing roundel on the bonnet of my old clubby. Was on there for months and just before Riv Run on year I took it off to wash the car! Then on the way to Newquay the damn thing flipped up and over my car and hit my club secretary's car square on the front! tore the roundel to pieces!!
Should never have washed the car!! lol

Thats great, did the secretary see the funny side of things?

When a mate of mine first passed his test his dad got him an old austin mini. He was driving me back to mine when he braked for some traffic lights. When we pulled away the lights had stopped working. We pulled over to check, and both his headlights had dropped out! It looked like a horror movie, the lights just dangling. He did not see the funny side, and when i had finally stopped laughing, and using some bodge tape the lights were working, he left me to walk and think about what i had done! lol

yeah She was fine!

On the way to MITP a few years back I pulled up to a junction, saw a car coming towards us but not indicating so started to move, as I did they indicated to turn so I slowed and stopped. Only to have a light shunt from one of my club members! only a bent bumper as damage but the passenger of the other car said he saw it happening, was pointing frantically but got tongue tied and couldn't get the work STOP out until the driver had already hit me!!

It should be a law that all Minis are fitted with CB radios on the same wavelength!

Let's get Clarkson in power .

When i was younger my step father had a Jaguar Soveriegn. Were driving along a country road when we approached a large puddle. He continued through it, only to suddenly realise that the puddle was in fact a river that had breached the banks. The car floated for a short while, by which time i had managed to get out of the window. My step dad sat in the drivers seat in shock. It was only a few feet deet, but im sure he was so upset he wanted to go down with the Jag.

Its more the things that people say when they see the convoy of minis.... on our first LMCC meet we heard an old chappy tell his grandson 'they must be on a job'

and last week a pair of drunks walked past the 12 mini convoy sat at the traffic lights they came out with the classic line ' you was only supposed to blow the......'

im glad no doors were blown off. frankly it was freezing.

People do say the funniest things. Has anyone else noticed that young people hit each other when they see a mini? Not sure why, but when a convoy goes past they must get in some right scraps!

On Friday night when a fair few of us were in London in the wee hours one guy got a kiss from a girl outside the SE1 club, and someone else had two girls trying to climb into his car.

I got two girls waiting to cross the road shout, "We love your car, AND YOU!" at me.

At Piccadilly circus one guy who's New MINI sounds pretty much like an F1 car had a guy on the side of the road taking photos trying to mimic the sound of the car. It was quite surreal to hear a fully grown man standing there making "vroom vroom" noises like a little kid.

We also went onto Westferry Circus which is an underground roundabout right next to Canary Wharf (for those who don't know London), and the convoy leader couldn't work out which exit it was so we went round and round 4 times or about that, unfortunately for people waiting to join the roundabout the number of Minis meant that we had managed to stretch all the way round so no-one could get on till we had all got off!

They're the most recent funny moments that spring to mind.

Whenever we convoy anyway, we get lost at least once!!
The amount of times we have done u-turns where we're not supposed to, had to ask for help.....
It all gets a bit embarrasing really!!
But I guess thats becoming the trade mark for our club!!
Become a rebel if you want to get lost!!!!!

Convoys are great fun! :P

On the way to the Nurburgring in 2006, I was having a few reliablity problems  and I had to pull onto the hard shoulder, and was joined by the 10 minis in front and 10 minis behind. Great support!

Oh and the great fun of convoy antics on the way to the L2B in 2004...

So many stories!
