Hi....I'm on my first mini and love it. It's a 1997 MPi Cooper. Just lately I've been having trouble with the fan. I've read other posts about the fan staying on constantly or starting to soon, but my problem is completely the opposite....IT WON'T COME ON AT ALL!! It's annoying because being used to drivng "enthusiastically" around my local roads I'm now having to be quite conservative so as not to overheat the engine. the only way I'm doing this at the moment is have the heater on full whack to allow the hot air in the engine bay to escape somewhere....I've changed the temperature transmitter (the brown plug in the thermostat housing) after being told that was a likely cause. but nothing. the only other lose connection that it could possibly be is the other section of this transmitter. I've looked into purchasing this but apparently it only comes as a whole unit with a new fan. Is this right that for a small lose connection at one of the terminals I have to purchase a new fan for just over a hundred quid?

Cheers

Disconnect the fan and hook up a 12V source to it and see if the fan actually works before thinking about replacing wiring.
