Oh gawd I just ordered some from Mini Spares a day or so back and I've not checked it yet. The plastic container was sealed in a plastic bag though, so it's got to be brand spanking new?

I guess it would be worth ringing Mini Spares to check that it should be green and not yellow and that it is actually Classic 20W50 oil that's in the can and not something else like synthetic oil or something?

I opened a new can of Duckhams Q-Classic 20/50 today that I purchased at the Malvern show at the weekend and that was yellow. Maybe they've stopped putting the green dye in it.

Its weird, the old one I have from the garage that was green was duckhams 20/50 petrol and diesel engine oil, the new one which was brand spanking new from minispares was duckhams 20/50 classic engine oil. Maybe they've come up with a new one?

I quite liked it being bright green.

Will it be okay to mix the green and yellow oil together, because I've still got half a can of the green stuff left?

i would "assume" so as its the same brand and viscosity oil. dont take my word for it tho. but if it was me, i would.

Anyway I couldn't resist opening my can of fresh Duckhams Q Classic oil that came from Mini Spares and I can honestly confirm that the colour of the oil therein is in fact: -

GREEN!

So sorry Gibbo, but I don't know what you got sent mate.

I'd take it back and enquire why.

i think they're phasing out the green dye in it, maybe because theyre making smaller batches of 20w50 due to falling sales.

I have put it into the mini now (although I left some in the can for evidence as I was a little dubious about the colour)

I also fitted a new filter & cooper washer...will I need to replace these again if I change the oil within the next few days???

OK...I took it back and the guy rolled off the complete history of Duckhams oil!!!

(this guy was talking pre war, post war, Castrol buyouts absolutley allsorts of facts & figure) lol..he seemed to weiredly know a hell of a lot about Duckhams oil!!!!

anyway he said it should all be yellow now as the green colour originally came from a pre war ingredient thats no long neccesary. So I said about other people recently buying green stuff, he said it must be really old stock (which I doubt because they would have used tin cans years back) or people are putting green dye in (which he said he had know people to do)!

He said speak to Castrol if I did'nt believe him.
