sorry to be so late in replying... was karting at buckmore park yesterday so didnt have chance to log on....
minis from japan really do vary in price.... as some of the other people have been saying on this link, jap imports are normally very low mileage and normally very well looked after..... they're condition is pretty similar to well preserved uk cars,.... all except the rust free element....
You can get all sorts of after market add ons... the air con is factory fitted though....
i reckon you can budget about £3k-£5 for an import....

10 inch wheels and mk1 lights and grille.seen alot on yahoo auction sitewe've got 2 in stock (a cooper 1.3i brg and a 1.3i mini tartan...) - we've got 3 more on the way... what sort of 'retro' do you mean....??

They are made in the uk so a letter of conformity is required on minis under 10 years. NO SVA.SVA depends on the age if its 10years or older then no sva but newer than that it will need an sva and it must be standard, everything standard or it will fail, they are uber fussy.
Jap cars are good but the interiors are rubbish, I had a scooby wrx import and in japan they didnt put any clock in them until 1999 or 2000. Incidentally it was the worst car ive ever owned apart from driving from one set of traffic lights to the next as quickly as possible.
