is this for a complete built engine? thought of building it yourself and just sending the block and head off?

just the block and head yes.

I will take off the gearbox for John.

once it comes back, I will then take out the 998cc engine.
If it doesnt get done by may 18th.

I'll spend some money and get the engine running so I can get to the show.
(I'll make sure I take my AA card!)

if I get a nice engine built over time, that would be really nice.
(and what I want, rather than rushing to put one in, I dont know what its like)

Well.

I'm a bit stuck...

I contacted MED they have a 6 week waiting list.
MORSPEED probably be the same.

Guessworks is ok, he needs two weeks, but Not sure if I can do it just yet.
if I can do the engine, so I'll contact John again soon, let him know.

(as I just use some of that money to fix the car) for the show

Only think I can really do now, is just try and fix the engine thats in there for the London To Brighton Run.
and then get the engine built for the summer...

I'm going to find out if my local garage will have a look at the mini, and try and sort it out.

Also Anyone know if I dont manage to get my mini sorted for the show, Can I sell the ticket? or are they locked to my mini?

I'be been having thoughts...

Would I be able to covert my wheel setup to a 10inch.

Currently got 12ichs on there, but I'm tempted to let go off the split rims and go for 10's... but not sure?

I do like the split rims very much, just I need to cut the front wings to fit he arches properlly for these.

no longer going to london to brighton, so got all summer to make changes.
any thoughts?

edit:
unless I can find away to keep my low profile, split rims and just change the arches?
as I dont really want to cut the car up.

is there any other arches than the ones that I have, that wont rub on the front?

If your wanting to convert down to tens, you will need this kit which will convert the calipers and flanges to 7.5 inch

Linky

What split rims do you want ? Mb racing ones ? I understand that they are abit wide and their offset means you will need widish arches to cover them.

ouchy, bit too much.

the wheels in my signiture are my split rims and the arches (think there sport pack ones? not sure)
you can see they are sitting too low at the front, and they rub on full lock.

only way to fix it is too cut the front a little bit.

unless I can find arches to replace, that dont need cutting and fit straight on without rubbing the wheels.?

Are you sure its not sitting low at the front because the rubber cones have worn out ?

Theres a number of different options of brakes if you want to go down to 10" wheels, have a read of this article.

Also, if you going for split rims, then you can chose pretty much any offset and width you like.

The rubber cones are all new, pretty much everything is, either painted, new or restored.
all underneath is nice, just dont like the wheels rubbing at the front.

so I put just normal 12inch alloys on (same size as split rims, but not so wide) so they didnt rub...

I allready have the split rims came with car.
there 13inch, but same size as 12inch, just a bit wider.

just the bloke never cut the arches to fit them.

so on full lock they rub :shy:
dont really want to cut the car up.

so if there is another set of arches that will (12inch) but wide, without cutting I may get them?

KAD do some steering rack limiters that stop the steering rack travelling to full lock, might solve your problem? They are only £10 ish, so might be worth trying.

been looking at the 12-10inch conversion kit.

are they hard to fit?
and what about the rear brake drums?

would I need to change these also?
I'm tempted to sell the 6x12's or 7x13's split rims, (not sure what ones they are)

and find some 10inch splits or 10inch race wheels.
and go with the conversion.

that way, I dont have to cut up the arches and bodywork.
should go straight on, and no rubbing right?
