Hello Again,

i know questions are always asked about minispeeds "s rims" but i know that someone has fitted s rims with a smaller spacer so they run under wood and pickett arches, and this is something iv always wanted to do. because i dont really fancy spending loads of money on a conversion kit so i can run 10" minilites. i think it was amy with the traveller that did it but im not so sure...
can it be done?

These wheels come in a couple of different styles. There is one version with the ridiculous 1" spacer built in that will clear 8.4" discs and a conventional version with no spacer that are to proper Mini dimensions and will fit to the bodyline with drums, or to conventional arches such as Wood and Pickett style when discs are used. These later ones will not fit over 8.4" discs though and you will have to use a disc set up that is compatible with regular 10" rims.

You may well get these wheels for less money from SMIL, after all it is SMIL who make them in Japan and Mini Speed simply import them. SMIL have only been trading directly in Britain for a short time.

The spacer is part of the wheel. As in its not removeable/changeable. Mymate has a set, ill ask him to get a pic of his spare when he has time.

INFACT, PM "Mini Magic" he has recently bought a set and will possibly take a picture before my mate does if you ask him nicely.

I doubt there's a way. Most people with W&P arches use 10" rims and they are designed to fit with the wheels at the standard offset. There are other arches that are extra wide without going for Sportspack or Works types. Have you seen the Mini Spares extra wide Mini Special set? They are made to exactly the same pattern as standard Mini Special arches but are 1" wider so will cover these wheels.

Or...

Fit smaller brakes.

Or...

Accept 12" wheels.

As Pie said, I have recently bought a set myself.

I'm using standard Sportspack arches to cover them as these are the arches they are made for. I have also heard that Group 5s will also be suitable.

I can take a photo underneith the car to show how far the wheel is from the brakes if you really want.

Well then I suggest that 86-Mini-Chelsea should PM Amy. I may be wrong but I was under the impression that Amy was one of those using Fiesta calipers.
