As for changing the colour of the flame, the only thing you can do is make a tailpipe out of copper (which is illegal) this will give you a greenish colour flame...

actually it won't. You need to get the metal to "burn" as in oxidise. since copper doesn't even melt until 1084.62 °C it will remain solid under normal operating conditions. I'm not even sure that Copper will burn in its elemental state. you would need to use a copper compound in powder or gas form with a flash point far lower than the solid material.

You can inject gas into your exhaust to get it to burn a different colour, again it would need to have a flash point (burn temp) lower than that of the exhaust gas temperature at the exhaust outlet and would mean you would need to carry compressed gasses within your car and have means of delivering them into you exhaust.

Adding sulphur to your exhaust would create Sulpur Dioxide which stinks and is not very good for the environment.

Could create Sulphur Monoxide, I didn't say it was a good idea!

Magnesium powder for a very bright flame, possibly with the copper you could use powder but would need a source of ignition.

That did make me laugh :D

You cant put magnesium in the exhaust! The brightness it burns is a bit, well, 'bright' to say the least, if someone catches that with their eye (pretty likely) then they wont like you, wouldn't be surprised if someone then drove into you and just said: oh i was blinded by the illegal flaming kit :shifty:

Well being that i'm a plumber, i can assure you i use alot of copper and when you heat it more than usual you do get a green flame. If the heat on that youtube film was hot enough to make some stainless glow cheery red then im sure it wouldn't have a problem with a piece of copper lol

Why the hell did i comment on this subject lol

you will find that new pure copper wont produce a green flame. old copper which has gone a bit manky and green (or coated in flux overnight) will. this is because it is a copper compound. As an element, copper does not burn.

P.S.

I'm a plumber.

If that's what it takes! Or coat the silencer core, there's several possibilities, but I wasn't making a serious suggestion!

This topic concerns me. :)

Why hasn't anyone thought of having a car that has bubbles coming out of the tailpipe rather than flames. It's the future I tell thee! =]
