Hey, I have a toad CAT1 alarm system fitted to my hyundai, this has a remote start, the reason I got it was because I have leather seats which are horrible when cold or hot, so I use the remote start to warm the car or cool it down. I have not tried to start it in gear yet, so I do not no what will happen ( i will try it tonight ) But to keep mine legal I have to hold a button for 3 seconds, then hold two buttons together till the car cranks. Its is illegal to have a 1 button push start.

I think you'll find its illegal to use on public roads anyway...

O Well. Am sure the police are going to arrest me if they ever see me using it. :D At least I know the insurance company are happy with it, I rang them when I got it fitted and they said aslong as its not a one button push start they will still cover me. Thats why I assumed it was legal

its only ilegal to have remote start it on a public road, as your not techicaly in control of the car, so if it was to say crash, and they found out it was due to a mistake in the remote start side of it, you insurence would be void, and i think it comes under a dangerous driveing charge (but im not 100% on that) but its still a risk. Modern cars have it i agree, but thats with clutch and gear sensors, handbrake sensors all to eliminate posibility of error. as a mini has only 1 of these (if you lucky) then the risk is alot higher. there again, you could always fit it out with all these sensors.

to be honest all the effort needed to install it on a carbed mini, is it so much of a chore to "unlock/open door- pull out choke - put key in igniton - start car" (stages have been missed here :xmas:)
