What car are you in?

First up, check all your connections, especially at the coil.

If it's EFI, it could be your crank angle sensor. This sensor tells the ECU when to fire. From what I've heard, CAS's can just die - that's it. It's not always the case, though. In my car, the CAS was just dodgey, which made it hard to nail.

When you turn the key, do you hear the fuel pump prime as usual? Do you hear the idle stepper motor wind out when you turn the car on and off? Do you get lights on the dashboard? A bit more info would help.

SPI's have a Dizzy and ignition that's separate from the fuel system. Check there's voltage getting to the coil.

As Ethel says .... so check the spark comming from the coil ie the wire going to the CENTER of the dizzy... ie do you have a spark comming out of your coil.... then take the distributor cap off and check the state of the rotor arm, cap and contcts...... althought the distributor DOES NOT alter the timing on an SPi... it does distribute the spark to the right plugs... The ECU sets the timming. After you confirm yea or nay then we can dig deeper

Plugging in a diagnostic and watching the RPM data as you crank the engine will tell you if the crank sensor if FUBAR'd or not. It does sound like ethe crank sensor. Only other way is to change it for a known good sensor.

If it is the crank sensor, the injector will not squirt the fuel either, you can see this if you remove the filter housing. If you get voltage at + on the coil, then the relay pack is working ok.

Is the car fitted with a factory alarm or imobiliser? What year is the car?

Check to see if its injecting fuel when you crank it then....if not Im going to suggest that if you cant get a diag kit to plug in its almost certain to be the Crank sensor.... is it injecting?... You have double checked the wiring from the crank sensor all the way to the ECU for cuts, shorts, plug contact corrosion etc?

Checked for cuts, etc seems ok check tonite for injecting, just charging battery at moment.
