right people trying to repair my sill there was quite alot of surface rust well what i though was surface rust but now i have 2 nasty holes in the sill what do you guys suggest i do ??? replace it or fill it over or weld and metal plate in it

before you repair the sill i would fit a new door step

it's structural, Weld it properly. There is no alternative.

could you explain what a step and sill is becuase i have been told i need a replacement but im not sure what it is i got quoted 450 for it to be done by the mini hospital.

You need, a door step, lower rear quarter panel section, and sills. Possible inner sills as well, going by the extent of the corrosion. As said, weld it. Filling it is not an option. £450 is a good price for that, if it's to be done properly.

The sills are the bits that go under the length of the car, they have bumps along them, and are separate panels from the floor. Inner sills are part of the floor pan, but can be replaced by cutting out and seam welding new sections back in. The step is what is fixed above the sill in the door aperture, the lower section of the hole where the door goes, to use hi tech linguistics. The lower rear quarter panel is a panel that replaces the lower section of the rear quarter panel, the big panel behind the door with the hole in it. You could replace the whole panel, depends how much money you have kicking around.
