998 Rev Limit

Hi guys tried a search with no luck.

Just wanted to know what the safe book rev limit is on a late 998cc.

My tacho redlines at 6000 rpm,

I do max of 6000rpm. Safer to aim for 5500rpm though.

can totally depend on condition of engine and specification, I don't think there is a quoted red line

I'm scared to push mine past 5k.
But it does have 95k on the clock!

Normally if you listen to the engine, you can tell what feels right anyway.

Not all cars are even fitted with a tacho so you've got to listen to what the engine tells you in them.

Yea i drove my last 998 without a tach but i think i drove it to hard so just want to be overly cautious this time :thumbsup:)

more revs doesent mean more power/speed... change gear already an give the poor lil 998 a break :thumbsup:

dont get me wrong, i'm not a rev nut lol, bu ti do like to have fun and dont want to do damage lol.
I'm all about the acceleration and the twisties not the speed :thumbsup:)

They will rev at 5500 all day so don't worry. I think I've said this before but once at a Mini show they had a competition to see if you could guess when the Mini engine would blow. It was a scrapper and was set at full throttle to rev at max revs (5500 standard) until it burst.
I put 2 hours on my ticket but it ran all day, flat out and never missed a beat.
They had to draw the winner out of a hat :shifty:

I wouldnt worry to much the 998's are very strong and revvy engines i always drive mine hard in each gear have been for the last 2 years with noprobs. :shifty:
