I've had 6500 out of mine - But really after 6k rpm it just seems to get louder and not any faster :shifty:

However if you change gear at high revs you get much better acceleration low down in the next gear obviously

can totally depend on condition of engine and specification, I don't think there is a quoted red line

Seconded :shifty:

plus also, i'd rather know where the power/torque curves are rather than the engine limit :teehee:

Doesn't it depend which gear your in, when I had a 998 Mini, I used to take it up to approx 5500 rpm and once upto 6000 rpm. But the higher the gear the lower the rpm I could get, when in forth gear it would only manage 4000 rpm which was 80 mph, its maximum speed.

just something i found out yesterday - most smaller engines are at power peak towards the top 2/3 of the rev band ie 3500 - 5000 ish. but that said i quite often rev my 206 (1.4) to 6250 due to the acceleration you get in the next gear at the higher revs! - i like the noise tho!

yea all good info guys and i agree the engines do love it, my other 998 is off the road but she always drove best when you rev'd her well, but again agreed there is a definate cut off point where power drops off.

Just want to play it safe at the end of the day :withstupid:
