Hi guys
I am in the process of repairing the boot floor, story as usual holes along the rear edge and above the valance closing panels.
Now the thing is that the rear panel/bumper lip is a bit shabby, bits are solid and bits have corroded through. But, the rest of the panel is sound and I dont want to cut away good metal and spend £105 on it.
Would I be able to use this panel http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=36457 ?
In my eyes theoretically it is the same shape so it should fit.
Feedback is much appreciated.
David

That Panel should weld onto the rear panel when you grind/cut away the old one.

Obviously that panel is for the front, but seeing as mini saloon bumpers are the same either end, it shouldn't be far off. It may need a little trimming and fettling, but it should work.

Thanks Guys
I know it will need a bit of manipulating, but if it saves cutting into good metal and £105 its worth doing.

If your any good with sheet steel and a pair of tin snips, why not make your own repair piece that is the perfect size for you, incorporating the bumper lip with it, so you wont have any panels to buy?
If theres not too much rust like you say it should be pretty easy.
If you cut out the problem in once piece you can also use it as a template and either butt weld it or overlap and weld it (with a joggled edge would be best!)
Just an idea though.

Thanks Jack
Great idea, I dont mind spending the £10 or so, I could do the same with that panel without the messing with a fresh plate.
Like I say really good idea.
