Hello all.

I just won a auction for a Metro / Mini Turbo gearbox.
I didnt think I would win for the price I paid.

but anyway.

he said in the listing.

"mini / metro turbo gear box and drop gears

these boxes are stronger than normal boxes"

do Turbo boxes normally have drop gears in them?
is there anyway I could find out, and tell by the picture?

I'm after the drop gears, for the whine.
so wanted to know if I did right in bidding?

I have a 1275GT engine which this could be going on, if all is well...

cheers

I think you've been bidding on the wrong thing because you have the terminology mixed up mate. All Mini / Metro type gearboxes have drop gears, this is a name for the gear train joining the clutch to the input shaft. From the sounds of it you are after a set of STRAIGHT CUT drop gears, these are a non standard part.

There is little difference between a Turbo gearbox and a regular one.

my mistake.
I'm after the straight cuts then.

I best tell him I cant complete the auction.
no point spending 130quid to get it if I have one on my engine.
which is the same.

he'll probably be *Drunk or yellow human water*...
oh well.

You bid, you buy - unless he's misled you in the advert.....

I'm not sure he has to be honest - OK he said they are stronger than normal boxes but other than that its advertised as a metro turbo gearbox and drop gears.

I agree there is a lot of stuff on eBay which is blatently advertised as something it's not. Unfortunately sometimes you've gotta do some research prior to bidding......

here ya go.
link http://cgi.ebay.co.u...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123

well guess what guys...

I just got home to find a nice email from him.

I sent one last night.
was nicely put, and I said I wouldnt be able to complete the transaction.
because I did try to contact before the auction ended. (and he never replied)

I put a MAX bid, of 100...
(I allways put a huge bid on top of what I want to pay, to cover myself when I'm not at my pc)

anyway.
I said he would be able to offer the auction to the 2nd highest bidder. he'd loose £2 thats all!

I have a feeling why I got the reply below.
is because he boosted his own auction, and so he cant sell to 2nd highest bidder.

look at the bidding list, and the prices put.

remember...
I put no bad words, and said I'm very sorry to withdraw after the auction ended.
he wanted me to pay £45 shipping too.

which I dont think is fair, its not that heavy.
I've had heavyer stuff.

and this is the reply I got... (I'm actually glad I'm not buying off him, if this is how he deals with people)

what are you on about you plank , why did you bid , gear box expert my arse , turbo boxes have totaly diffrent gears and diff , uprated diff pins your just a time waisting :xxx: and i should have retracted your bid when i read your feed back but i said to my self no one can be that much of a prick i guess i was wrong wish you a slow and painfull death

- shane324

I've not sent a reply yet.
but I might be tempted to report his email to ebay.

what should I reply with?

Wow - what was in your original email to provoke that reply?!?

I think he's got a right to be pi55ed off though. You bid on it thinking it was something different to what it actually was. Not a good reason for not completing the auction IMO.....

....but no need for that reaction I agree! :xxx:

I agree with what he has said, its entirly your fault for not reseaching what you were buying, you have posted on here a couple of times saying you wanted that 'whine' and people have said you want S/C drops and/or box, and its rather easy also to see from the pics they arent S/C but i dont think the reply you got was called for and he was out of order there.

But i can totally understand why he is a bit miffed, you have basically bidded and won and said i dont want it for X reason and its not down to his listing being wrong.
