I've decided that I want a white roof, bonnet stripes and the mini cooper laurels and pinstripes putting on my 1987 Mayfair as a cheap attempt to make it look like a mini cooper. The only trouble is that its got a glass sunroof and I don't recollect seeing a white roofed mini like this. I've had a look about on a few different forums, ebay and google but still can't seem to find any pictures.

I've got a few questions as always.
¬ Has anyone got any pictures at all?
¬ Will I need to remove the sunroof to respray the roof (I suppect so)
¬ Will I need a new sunroof seal?
¬ How easily can I fit the roof again after the respray?
¬ How can I remove the current Mayfair decals and side car stripes? (Hot soapy water?)

Cheers,
Jam2005

1992 RSP's had them too, a la mine.

Sorry I don't really have a good picture of the sunroof yet, I can pop outside and get one if you need it.

I think they had what they had lying around, mine was at Longbridge for five years as a pool car after it was built, loads of weird things on it.

As ever I could be wrong! :D We didn't buy it knowing it was an RSP so if it wasn't I really woulen't mind.

The reason is, is because at first when i had mine i thought it was an RSP and got in contact a while ago with the man head of the RSP Cooper club after much discussion we worked out that mine was not an RSP Cooper  but was indeed a limited edition of some sort, it was not identifyable. It is however one of the last carburettor coopers about.

Well that 1990 RSP's had BAD in the chassis number but I can't find out that much about the 1992 ones apart from the bits they added on styling wise which mine has, but as it was at Longbridge they coul dhave played so I am still unsure.

Quite simply the car is what it says on the V5... special editions are denoted as such.... ie I had a Mini Ritz, and on the V5 is said Mini Ritz

So if you V5 says Cooper then it's a cooper. no argument

what does RSP stand for again ???

Rover Special Product, It means they fiddled with it :D

I believe the 1990's ones were the first reintroduction of the Cooper.

RSPs had body coloured arches and wing mirrors, a sun roof, mini 30 seats but with cooper logos on them, wood dash, and green dials. they were released in 1990 as a special edition cooper, they came in red and black,(i think there may have been brg as well) there was no plans to re introduce the cooper as a main stream model but because the rsp was such a huge sucess it was re-launched. after 1991 the normal cooper came out with white wing mirrors, black arches and a white roof with no sun roof, then after 93/94 they changed over to spi.

some may have been regestered later as they are old stock that have been stored at dealers, but are you sure they are rsp's?

what to look for.
