Aye. I commuted 100 miles a week on her for 5 years, plus all the fun stuff at weekends & holidays. She's been all over the UK & into mainland Europe too! :-

It looks like a 7 year old bike should do. My old Orange had some 'bubbling' on it after 2 years of intense riding. I got out the orbital sander and got all the paint off, took the rusty bits out, (luckily it hadn't gone all the way through) but just incase i got out the rotary tool bit cut around the rust and welded a new aluminium plate to it, then i sanded that off, then painted it over. Looks as good as new!

sorry rob, remind me what type of welding did you do to you 3cm thick aluminium bike frame?

lololololololololololololololol :thumbsup::lol::w00t::lol::w00t::lol::):lol::lol::lol::lol:

I wouldnt worry overly much about it, as it only looks like a small amount, ally when it oxidies swells up a lot more than rust,

it also forms a layer of oxidisation over as soon as its exposed to air which is why etch primer has top be used aparanlty.

god my spellings poor.

I'm gonna drag mine out this weekend and see what damage i did on it when i fell off last august i know ive bent the saddle but ive not even taken it out of the shed

its been 8 months scince ive ridden longest ever, reckon I might need stabilizers

Now correct me if I'm wrong but once the Alu has oxidised then it effectively self protects itself from more corrosion, therefore it will only be surface damage nothing more.

The only "damage" its doing is looking bad.

I see no reason why you couldnt just sand it down and respray the area for less than a fiver!

Thats what I'd do if it was an Aircraft :o
