I got my spot-weld drillbit from Machine Mart and its useless! http://www.machinema...4/040210467.jpg
It just doesn't seem to cut! I even tried turning it round to use other side but that wasn't any better. Has anyone else had this problem or am I doing something wrong? Or maybe my mini is made of stronger (but still just as rusty) stuff than most.

I feel your pain with the spot welds lol, i tried one of those drill bits and it worked for a couple of welds and that was it. I now use one of these >>> Clicky 150 welds later its still cutting like new  HTH !

Those things are a waste of time and money. I always make my own from a normal twist drill.

Ive use the first ype before, and like you say they are great for the first few spot weld but then the go blunt and even some of the cutting teeth come off. Ive moved over to the second type now, sooo much better

I've used the first type for over 20 years (yes I've had to replace blades a few times) never had a problem.

You just grind the sides flat, leaving a point in the middle. I've done it too, but the ready made ones are much better.

Just recieved my new 'second type' spot weld drill bit from Screwfix along with some new cutting discs for my grinder. Now all I need is for the weather to stay good and get some time off work so I can spend some quality time with my new tools
