Gotta love 205s - heres mine. Just got it back on the road after a 6 month break.

205s can suffer with electrical problems - mine is currently deciding not to start on occassion and I'm pretty sure it's a wiring issue that I need to trace. I'm not 100% confident with the reliability of mine at the moment and I've spent quite a bit of money on it over the years. Also the newest gti will now be 15 years old which is never a good thing from a reliability viewpoint. Unless you find one which has been fully restored/well maintained I think you could end up with two unreliable cars......

From a comfort viewpoint mines a bit creaky and rattly but I've upgraded the interior to take full leather from a 405 and it's really comfortable! Even as standard though they are pretty good.

Having said all that - go buy one. They are awesome fun!

nice looking car, I would leave the exterior entirely standard too, original alloys of course. They dont need any changes to look stunning!

Electrical faults are acceptable, ill be giving them a seeing to as standard anyway, still really unsure what to do though

anyone else had any tough car choices before?

im going to be getting a 205 and selling one of my mini's

going to be used in rallying. using the 1.6 XU engine (GTI)

one thing i find strange about the XU engines are the bores, the cylinder are held in a strange way and if your not careful float around when your taking the engine apart.

friends said how there renound for over heating, sure this might be a personal problem. his did over heat on his 1st rally tho, shot a coolent hose off.
he also broke the gap between 1 of his pistons so was getting low compression, rebuild of that engine needed....not good when you pay a grand for the engine
cylinder head might also be cracked

non of this has put me off because on my 1st rally in my mini i got 0 oil pressure so that going to be rebuilt also
