Hiya looked at the pics what exactly is wrong with it looks a little pushed up but not bad. Unless that tape patch is covering something ?

the tape is just to make sure that the wiring is fixed at one place.

i just snapped few more pics of my front floor panel.too bad this is what i found hiding under my carpet.

i've already cover the hole with pyroxylin lacquer.
so i know i cant hold it for too long...should a change the front panel or just weld a patches there.

Mate thats nothing! Mine has had numerous leaks resulting in a 2" puddle in the passenger footwell for god knows how many years before i bought it and theres a load of surface rust (which is getting sorted soon!). It looks really bad but in actual fact its not rotten at all, just where the water has dried and formed a layer.
Matt.

Am I the only person that thinks this is a typical mini owners answer? 'that? no, that's not rust, don't be silly'. To any other car owner in the world, surface rust is a nightmare, to a mini driver it's a relief that's it's not rotten. I have to be honest though, I'm struggling to see from the pics what the problem is.
I'd have to say though that it should be your decision, if you think it's bad enough then put a new panel on otherwise it'll be the one bit that you're never quite happy with, at least if you replace it then you'll be happy that it's sorted and won't have to worry about it for a while. If you think it's not that bad and will be fine with some welding, then weld it. It's what you'd be happiest with at the end of the job.
