Reversed my lil mini out of my drive, and when i turned, there was an almighty crunch! and then when i turned back, there was another! You could really feel it through the steering wheel

Time for a new rack then :erm:

Yea, well it went before, and i took it to the fella to be fixed. He changed the ball joints one weekend, and was going to do the rack the next. After he had done the ball joints, the banging had stoped, so i figued it was ok, until yesterday morning!!! i got a second hand rack, but it needs new rubbers! Its going to be about £120 to have it fitted!

it could be the bottom of the column, if the pinch bolt has come loose the splines could be jumping.

I think grinding teeth means a new rack or can you just change that bit?
