Hi

I was thinking of fitting alluminium door skins to my 95' sprite. Are alluminium skins weaker or harder to spray than normal steel items?

Thanks

i havent sprayed mine yet, but im just going to use a normal etch primer ive been told they arent any harder to spray than steel. ive found they dent quite easily but its hard to say while they arent in paint im only guessing a bit. but the way im looking at it is they arent going to bubble up so you can always just keep filling the doors like once a year or every other year and they will still always be alright.

Treat them like they are bare metal steel skins. Etch prime, Prime, then paint.

Make sure you have some thick paint and sealant between the steel of the frame and the aluminium. If the two metals touch, you get electrolosis which corrodes both metals away. Remember once alli corrodes, you cant treat it as you can steel.

True, I forgot about that. Just need to take some major care then.

Cheers
