hello minimad people,
i have just started working on my 93 sprite last weekend. Have dropped the rear suframe off to find that both sides of the heel board are rusted through. can anyone tell me if the heelboard is thicker steel than the usual panel repair? have heard that this panel is just under 3mm?
if so has anyone bought a repair panel from minispares, and is this the thicker type?
if anyone has done this repair themselves then pictures would be a great help, gonna attack it today with wire brush on my grinder to see how bad it is
regards
chris

When I put these panels in my car, I do remember them being quite thick and rigid compared to other panels!

I dont know about 3mm though, that really is thick!

Id hazard a guess about 2mm?

I wouldnt bother making the panels, theyre too cheap to bother with!

Thanks Jack,
Are the subframe nuts supposed to be on the back of these panels or are they attached to the sill closing panel at the bottom of the rear seat bins?
i know the repair panel have them welded on the back

theres 2 types of repair pannel the non genny ones are just some steel witha a 90deg bend and 2 nuts welded to it which is easy to make the heratige one has the strengthing peice, the ear for the sill and the two flanges that weld to the floor and the seat squab.

its a fiddly job because it needs to be in square other wise it aint gonna drive right

did mine using a heriage pannel cut all the C**p out cut the heratige pannel down to make it shorter(its half the width of the car) and joggled the edgle so i had a nige flange to do the welding to then i spotted it on the top where i had drilled the old pannel out and same with the floor then i ran a seam on them just to make sure.

i made a jig that bolted to the sill to mount the new pannel to to ensure it went on in the right place
