its a shame that they have immediate chav stereotypes really, as they are really quite wonderful motors, and very menacing, even as standard! I'd have one!

Only ever driven a Saph, but that was fun enough.

I have to admit though, I'd love one! Really, really would love one.

Hard to find a decent standard one these days in good condition though.

ah, sierra cosworth

i was the same until i owned one.

it was owned by a car valeter, so was mint.

i spent 4 weeks with it on my drive, waiting to sort my insuance out (was only 18, wasn't easy)

And when i finally got going. . . . . . what a disappointment!

even at stage 1, not very quick.

it had the look, but until you hit the REALLY unreliable stage 3 zone, not very quick.

Looks great in the pictures, but in real life? ? ? ?

plus, i don't care how good it is when you buy it, get the cheque book out! its going to go wrong!

what i was trying to say was. They are great looking cars, (I Love them) but the reality is that things aren't always what they seem.

Mine was a very good one, 2 owners from new, a history to die for, straight as hell.

but if you put any real mileage on them, not practical!

ive got loads of friends who have had 3 or 4 of them, and that exactly why.

they're great fun, then they get fed up of them, sell them, a couple of months/years go by, and they get the yearning again!! and it all starts again!

At stage 1 they realy arent quick

Stage 3 and above and they're rocket ships, but be prepared to get your cheque book out!

I'm not really sure what specs the ones Ive been in were.

To be honest, i'd only own a cossie if I had money to maintain it anyway, so the reliability issue wouldnt be a problem if I could afford one.

im sorry but between the escort cossie and the sierra cossie, escort wins hands down. So much more power and not as many problems.

Sierra was far more fun than the Escort... The Escort was hot, but no Group A.

When I were a lad the two main group of cars to go for was either a Mk1 Escort Mexico or a any Lotus Cortina, but for bog standard out of the box shear fun was my Mk2 Escort

Love the 3dr sierra cosworths I wouldn't sell my rs for many cars but 1 of these in the right condition might sway me. Escort cosworths also a cracking car but the 3door started it all and so it will always apeal to more people.

The other half of Custom Minis has a 3 door sierra cosworth, moonstone blue, completely standard.

We have some good banter at work sometimes but its still Mini all the way for me!

Les.
