I'm looking to buy a Mini as my first car and would like to put a smoothed bootlid on it. The item in question needs prepping and painting, and I would obviously need a colour match. Any idea how much this could cost?
The paint would be pretty standard (no flecks/ not pearlescent/ not metallic).

^ The said bootlid.
Whilst I am here, any idea how much fitting arches, plus spraying them, would cost?
Unfortunately, my budget is rather low, and I need to pay for my education on top of everything so having a fairly precise estimate would be great!
Any help is appreciated.

Around £250.
Is that for both the bootlid and the arches or just the bootlid?
If it's too much, I may have to stick with just the arches
Just out of interest, how much do you guys pay for insurance? With 0 NC, mine's in the region of £1500 for a 1300 Mayfair, £3k for a 1300 Cooper. It's madness.

Could you post a link to the site you got your insurance off?
I'm looking at post 1990 models, and I was sure cars had to be 25 to be eligible for Classic Car Insurance.
In light of this, I may get an older one!

usually the person insuring a car under a clasic policy had to be over 25 years i have a 89 mini that i could have had a classic policy on. The price that other guy is paying i would say is very cheap for a 17 year old no ncb and with mods. I couldent get a deal like that wheb i was 17 Which was a few years back

You might be able to down the price a fair bit if you were To paint them yourself,....
Depends how cheap you can get the needed equipment and materials.

You don't have to be 25 for classic insurance...
I'm insured with footman james. If your under 25 you have to ring them for a quote, they don't quote online for under 25s.
They said to me that the latest mini they would insure on a classic policy would be 20 years old. But then my dad rang up and asked if there was anyway we could insure a newer car on a classic policy and they changed they're mind and said 15 years.
Ring them and see.
