just brought a austin mini 850 as a project nd have begun stripping it i have welded the battery box nd floors in but have found pin holes in the bodywork how am i spose to repair them as they are on the outside of the car and can not just weld a plate over it any help would be great pics can be posted if needed

post some pictures! See how big the holes really are first as well.

Well you don't "repair" any rust holes by welding a plate over the top.
Like anywhere else you cut out the rot and weld in new metal, or cut out and replace the whole panel, or if it really is just a tiddly little hole, then a dab of weld to fill it. After any of those solutions you grind down, skim of filler to smooth, and paint.
