It's been a while but I have an update  :D

I have another 1275 block and pistons that I am building, all the piston to bore clearances look a lot better than they did on my 1293 so that's a good start.

So a new set of rings and the pistons went in last weekend and I have been doing stuff through this week ready to put it back in the car this weekend.

On the box and flywheel on:

I have also had the head skimmed as there was a slight gap between 2 and 3:

More updates this weekend if all goes to plan.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Rocket.

Had a good day in the garage today. Started off by getting an engine crane off a friend:

Then she was in, got the speedo cable and drive shafts in and then bolted the engine mounts.

I have put the gear linkage back together and put the exhaust manifolds in place as they are a right pain to get in once the engine is solid with the steady bars. Then it was time for the cylinder head.

I won't get chance to do anything tomorrow but will try and get bits done in the week.

Cheers

Dave

The garage is alive with the sound of an A Series!!! (oh and a bit of Quo on the radio  ;D )

Had a decent weekend on the mini, got everything on the engine fitted and then fired her up today. I set the static timing and then once it was running put two colour tunes on (twin carbs) and got a lovely bunsen blue colour on both. Once it has gone dark I will get the timing light out again and check that it is right.

All that is left to do now is bleed the brakes and put the bonnet and grille on, oh and get some road tax.

Time for an update!!

A lot has happened since I've been on here, I've bought a house, met a girl and got engaged.

So the mini... I have recovered my rear seats finally, put them in with seat belts. I've put a new headlining it and done it properly this time, I cut it too short last time  >_<

I've gone back to the twin 1" 1/4's with the standard needles for a 1275. Seems to run pretty well after a bit of setting up but we'll see once its on the road. I'm going to get it on a rolling road and get it all set up properly.

Anyway its good to be back  :D

She passed her MOT today  :D

It was horrible to drive there as it just felt really flat but then would kick in and go once the revs got up, once we got there we richened the mixture by one flat on each carb and its a completely different beast, drives much better now.

Got through the emissions test after we told the young lad testing it to put the choke in  >_<  It then came in at 0.21% for CO. and 300 for Hydro carbons.

I'm going to tax it on Sunday and then give it a good run and see how we get on.
