Well I dont know what i prefer the Moustache Grill or the standerd mk3 grill like the one in my avatar.......

the minis got sportpack arches and i dont know if it will fit with the moustache grill ends ?

and how easy is it to take off/put on a moustache grill ?

and how easy is it to cut the lip off my current mk3 bonnet ? and what tool is best to use?

i voted for moustache
i think the way you take the lip of the bonnet is by drilling out the spot welds

hmm ok.... but the part that the lip is welded to has got rusty and i cant see were the welds are

and sand under the front lip where its rusty and they should show up, then drill them out, job done!

mustache grille is sexual. i really dont like late grilles that much personally.. go for it :thumbsup:

that is amazing mate love it with the sportpack arches think that pic has persuaded me to sell my two mk3 grills and buy the moustache grill!!!!

hey lewis i like the name THE GUERNSEY MINI i think it will keep that name (:

yea i have sanded it but its so bloody rusty found a few though guess if i use the measurement of the space between each of spowelds i have found. i should be able to tell were the remainig ones are? :thumbsup:

I'm guessing you mean the wiskers that go on the ends of the moustache? I haven't fitted them to mine, I actually prefer the Mk1 grille without them.

I would imagine they would touch the arches, I suppose you could cut the ends of the wiskers off so that they don't.

or as you get a couple of welds off you can 'wiggle' the bit of metal and it should highlight where the next weld is, but be careful not to damage the bonnet.

well i sold my mk3 grill and some bits and now i have got me 90 quid haha nearly there here comes the moustache

I used an angle grinder (metal grinding wheel) on each spot weld and a pair of mole grips to gradually "roll up" the lip from left to right.

Worked well, no damage to the bonnet; was surprised at how much rust there was between the lip and the bonnet ('99 MPi)
