Heater unit ?

Hi guys would a heater unit from a 1990 mini fit a 1976 clubman ??

just check with a mini doc but i think yes they only changed when they went for a 2 speed fan

Even the 2 speed heater can be made to fit.

and if you can pick up a 2 speed heater i'd certainly recommend it!.....they are awesome compared to the earlier ones.

The pipe diameter changed in the mid 1980s. The 1976 Mini will have half inch heater hoses, the later cars have bigger pipes. You can change the heater, but you'll need to change the pipes over too.

with a small bit of black tape, the outlet hoses (to the windscreen) fit inside the outlets on the 2-speed heater just nicely.... :wink:

aren't there two speed switch conversions? Or is the whole unit better?

I imagine they uprated the fan-motor too?

whats a two speed. all my heater does is "on" or "off" .. ... guess that two speed tho.

The mpi's (1996 onwards) were fitted with 2 speeds (off, 1, 2) and i hear that they are alot quietier and more efficent.

heaterpipes come out on the rad/fan side of the engine bay on a later model heater!! 90's onwards!! fairly easy to get round tho!! lots easier to plumb in a heatd maniold that way too:)
