Our new lodgers are declawed rescue cats that were originally brought over from the US by their previous owner. We don't really know anything about their recent history, but it appears as though it has been stressful in some way.

Her name is Lola (she is a showgirl...la...la..la..la.)

Posted Image

You can't see her baldiness on her chest in this pic. She doesn't like to show it off, anyway.

Posted Image

She's starting to relax around us now, and chats away to us both (when she hasn't got a mouthful of furry nether regions...............a girl after my own heart  )

Posted Image

Milo on the other hand, is starting to worry me :dontgetit: . When he does appear from his nest-of-asylum-in-the-drawer-under-the-spare-bed, he gives outward signs of being relaxed.

Posted Image

But he's far too thin (all this belly is scruffy fur) he's not eating well at all, and his coat is really manky.

Posted Image

He sleeps/hides for most of the day & can't even be bribed to make an appearance with the usual catty treats. :ermm: We shall try the tuna tonight, see if that has any effect.

Posted Image

Neither of them will let us look at their front paws. We can handle their rear paws, but they won't let us near their amputated bits.

There has been a bit of progress :- . They have both wandered downstairs of their own accord a couple of times, but if there's any noise at all, they race back upstairs & under the bed. :withstupid:

Mr Juju has planted up some grasses in pots for them to nibble at (and hopefully not barf hairballs everywhere :dontgetit: ), which seems to be acceptable to Lola so far.

And the best bit is that Mr Juju is smiling again!! :dontgetit:

Juju, well done to you and your fella for taking on rescue cats. Hopefully they should settle in given time and the bribe of tuna should work as our three cats go crazy for it. Good luck to Lola and Milo, they've let you be their owners so they must know that they will be having a happy life from now on. :withstupid:

I can't believe people get away with de-clawing cats, they should be had up for animal cruelty. People should realise that cats scratch things, a couple of strategically placed scratching posts dotted around the house and it's not really a problem.

woo nice one Juju! they both look very pretty, even with the C**p fur and im sure with some care and attention that will come back. Well done you two, hopefully they will start to enjoy themselves again! They must be onto a good thing if the tuna is coming out..

How about we find the owners and declaw them, that would be good. >:withstupid:

Aww, they're gorgeous :dontgetit: no wonder Mr Juju is smiling again!

I'm sure with a bit of TLC they'll soon come round and stop hiding when they hear noises. They're bound to be a little stressed, especially since they know they have no claws to defend themselves with :dontgetit: . Maybe that's why Milo isn't eating well, if he's stressed. I reckon as soon as the tuna comes out he'll magically get his appetite back :withstupid:

Juj, Im not a cat person at all but that really is a fantastic thing you are doing! No creature on this planet deserves that and you offering them a loving caring home is beyond the call of duty so top work Mr&Mrs,

Your write up made me chuckle out loud at work also.
