i was wondering what type to get i know there is 2 but i aint a clue what they mean road?? or remote??
also i will be getting my new engine next month 1275 with the gear box was just wondering if the shifter would fit in that aswell??

when i come to get one i will ring the company i get it from and ask them but i wont bother for the 998 just get it when i get the 1275 built up

All I would say is, make sure the gearbox is in good condition before you fit one otherwise you'll be cursing ever spending the money on one.. and remember it does not make gear changes quicker, just shorter in the throw of the gear stick, beat the clutch and you'll break your gearbox, eventually.
The best ones come with KAD written on them..

when rebuilding the gear box i will be going for straight cut gears will that be a problem?? also i thought the idea of a wuick shift was to make the distance shorter meaning you get into gear alot faster lol

Having straight cut gears won't make any diffrence, It really should be called a short shift

Let your gearbox synchro at its own pace and don't try to 'quick' shift with these as already mentioned above, you will either lead to premature wear of baulk rings or get it wrong with the clutch.

I know this topic is ancient but my advice to everyone is - DON`T BOTHER! I put £42 worth on mine and could only get 3rd and 4th gears. No amount of messing around would get me the other gears and after weeks of messing around I`m going back to standard.
