You'd need a ROD type, The 'Remote' ones where for the early Minis.

makes no difference if it's 998 or 1275, it's the gearbox it's connected to not the engine...

All I would say is, make sure the gearbox is in good condition before you fit one otherwise you'll be cursing ever spending the money on one.. and remember it does not make gear changes quicker, just shorter in the throw of the gear stick, beat the clutch and you'll break your gearbox, eventually.

The best ones come with KAD written on them..

when i get my new engine it comes with a box and i am rebuilding everything on it new baringd the whole 9 yards!

when rebuilding the gear box i will be going for straight cut gears will that be a problem?? also i thought the idea of a wuick shift was to make the distance shorter meaning you get into gear alot faster lol

cheers

Having straight cut gears won't make any diffrence, It really should be called a short shift :shifty:

Consider why you want one of these. - really

Let your gearbox synchro at its own pace and don't try to 'quick' shift with these as already mentioned above, you will either lead to premature wear of baulk rings or get it wrong with the clutch.

i only liked them for the auto centralling. centralising the gearstick. lol, but i wouldnt get one just for that, and dont like the idea of short shifts

I've got a quickshift in a non Mini. The standard throw was a lot like that in a truck. I don't force it and I don't drive it hard, the good thing is being able to change gears with my finger tips instead of having to move my whole arm.

I know this topic is ancient but my advice to everyone is - DON`T BOTHER!  I put £42 worth on mine and could only get 3rd and 4th gears. No amount of messing around would get me the other gears and after weeks of messing around I`m going back to standard.
