ok im going totaly deseam my mini roof and all but i havent found anything on the web about the best way to do it cutting a bit off and then welding it back up bit at a time is the best way to go about it so i have heared i just thought i would put this on to see if anyone else would have any ideas

IMO, leave the roof gutter... but apart from that yes deseaming is a long processes of cutting bits of seam off then welding together ( I think the use of small plates ) on the inside is recommended to help build a join between the panels.. ( this is certainly what I did when removing the bumper seam from the rear of petal.

why not the roof it looks really nice and kind of moden and it will go with the theme of the car

if you remove the roof gutter the door and window seals let in water

if i change the way the door seals i should be ok i will have to look into it

i don't think u should de-seam it either especially not if it will let water in! :erm:

When i deseam mine, I am going to leave just a tiny lip over the doors, just sufficient enought to provide coverage for water, and to look fully deseamed

I had my orange Mini de-seamed, but left the roof gutter on. Had the 4 sides, rear and front bumper all done. Cost me £1,000 includeing the paint as well. This was 10 years ago so the price will have gone up :fear:

mines deseamed and every time it rains i ahve to blow the rain off the roof b4 getting in or else i get soaked

i have seen some desemed minis with the guttering left on the side to get around the water getting in problem. although IMO it doesnt look all that good!
didnt early minis have an extra bit on the guttring on the side? i guess this could have been for the same reason!

i think you should go all the way it will look good especially if you are gonna blend in a body kit!
