All Kent cams are 106 degrees BTDC. If you are using a new chain, time it to 104 degrees as the chain will stretch by 2 degrees. Some people may come on here and say they stretch 3 degrees, but Ive timed in many cams and 104 BTDC will be spot on.

Just a note, if you like the 296, you will love the 310. I wouldnt have anything less

If you can get one, go for a kent silent (high velocity) chain.... No stretch at all....

and Paul, yes my next cam will be a 310, having run the 296scatter for 3 years and enjoyed every minute of it...

Ive not heard of that chain, where do you get it. I use chains from Swiftune, not sure who's he supplies - probably Kent, but if thats the one Nick uses then usually thats the best. I like the idea of no stretch, means I can nail it sooner after rebuild

paul what kind of power firgures are you getting with the 310? obviosly it all depends of other aspects but if your running a 310 degree cam youll most likely be running the rest of the engine on par.

thanks

Sam.

All Kent cams are 106 degrees BTDC. If you are using a new chain, time it to 104 degrees as the chain will stretch by 2 degrees.

Would this be visable for every cam? I'm putting a SW5 in soon, I know it should be 108 degree's, So should I be timing it to around 106?

Cheers.

The reason I say 'if you can get one' is I'm not sure Kent actually make them anymore... It's a high velocity chain so is not the same construction as the 'bike like' chain as used in the duplex but is a multi link.... off to find pictures...

and believe it or not I found the pics in imabitnaughtyxx's wanted post... :)

I believe Min-its may still have some..

Ah, yes I remember those. Ive never run one but Swifty reckons they eat the bottom sprocket as its such a tight turn and there are so many links on the chain. I guess it depends how much grief you give it though. Constantly revving to 9,000-9,500 as I do might be what he is talking about

surprised you've not tried the 'direct' gear driven alternative.
