vizzard says full race porting of the exahust ports will increase mpg, and leaving the inlet alone is best. becuse rough is better for evaporating the fuel.
simply altering the screw on your carb will do little do help fuel economy and could damage your engine, take it to a rolling road if this is your aim and get the needle changed. so its exactly right, a lean mixtue on its own will produce more heat and less power so actualy could make your mpg less.
