Is this all the welding you've done the beam pictured, I'm very surprised to see you've not seam welded it.

seam welding would be overkill - thats just the beam inside the sills - there's a much bigger beam running along the inner sill along with 1.5 mm galv sill covers as well - this mini is far stronger than a standard one, and much much stronger than a "keiths convertible" take my word for it - I wouldn't build something i didn't think was safe

Thanks Joe, you should put a project thread up, or did I miss that bit?

I did dave but only one person seemed interested so I didn't bother updating it

Well I moved away, and had nowhere to put it, so it stayed covered up and dry, but have shiften it nearer now so may get some stuff done this summer!

Next summer - maybe, the saloon comes first!

Never seen one of these before, but looks like a real fun project!

I've seen one other on ebay, and the guy I bought this from has an Elf version.

See above, will get onto it soon, have some interesting ideas...

P-p-p-p-p-progress?

Above again, sorry...

Also wanted to know about any news ...
And by the way, is it an Hornet or an Elf ??? (front grille and dash)

I've basically got to strip it, then get the bodywork done, with some individual touches...
A good question, it's a Hornet that someone had rebadged as an Elf with the dash and grille, but who knows why.
It came with it's original grille and badged, and I'll be putting it back to Hornet style, even if just because there's less of them left...

Will update you all soon, but as you know I have Molly and the trailer to get out the way, and a saloon to strip apart...

Wow - it's been a while - Hornet Saloon is the first job, in the meantime I've been developing better and better ideas for this, so I'll get on to doing the work sometime in around a year, until then it's sat in my parts lockup...

Will post a pic of the latest thoughts/plans in a bit...
